Housing Navigator MA

Profile

Jennifer Gilbert launched Housing Navigator Massachusetts in 2019 driven by a passion to reduce the divides in housing access and housing equity. As founder and Executive Director, Jennifer has led all aspects of the organization’s creation, funding, growth, and execution. Its foundational product– a user-friendly, free, 24/7 online tool– simplifies finding information on hundreds of thousands of affordable rentals. On average, once every minute, someone starts a search on Housing Navigator MA.

Generating housing opportunity is the connecting thread in Jennifer’s career, from her first post-college job at a Philadelphia homeless shelter to 20 years in mission-centered real estate development. Prior to Navigator, she served as founding Executive Director of the Kuehn Charitable Foundation which supports affordable housing, historic preservation, and open space, as well as the Kuehn Fellowship developing the affordable housing field’s most critical resource--a diverse, talented, and committed workforce. Jennifer has guided the production of 2000+ units of affordable housing, nonprofit office space, and early education centers in Massachusetts and Tennessee.

Jennifer holds an MCP from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a JD from Northeastern University School of Law, and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania. During 2022-23 she is appointed to serve as a member of the City of Cambridge’s Charter Review Committee.
