Currently the principal economist and consultant with MetroIntelligence, Patrick has over 25 years of experience working with some of the country’s leading real estate consulting firms including Zonda (previously Hanley Wood Market Intelligence), RCLCO, The Concord Group and Beacon Economics, and also managed the market research department for a public home builder operating in multiple states.

In 2022 he started contributing to U.S. News and World Report, focusing on real estate economics and other trends related to the housing market. In addition to contributing to U.S. News, Patrick serves as a Senior Contributing Editor for Builder and Developer magazine and has also written for the Los Angeles Times, Inman News, The Wall Street Journal, Motley Fool’s Millionacres and Real Estate Witch. A repeat judge at the International Builders Show, he has presented and led panels of housing market experts at the Builder 100, PCBC and various local chapters of the National Association of Home Builders.

Born in Long Beach, California, Patrick received a bachelor’s degree in economics and communications from the University of California at San Diego, with additional studies at UCLA and the IMF.
