Wired to Care: How Companies Prosper When They Create Widespread Empathy
Date Time Room
June 10, 2010   8:30 AM - 10:30 AM Esplanade Ballroom
This session is part of
Executive Conference
When your organization has a shared, intuitive vibe for what’s going on in the world, you can identify new opportunities faster than your competitors. It comes down to empathy, but empathy beyond the individual. It’s empathy on an organizational level that embraces a true gut-level intuition for the people who buy your products and services. Dev Patnaik, CEO and founder of Jump Associates, which advises execs at companies including GE, Nike, Target, and HP, argues in his new book Wired to Care that the human power of empathy is the source of all innovation. Companies with a widespread sense of empathy—in every nook and cranny of the organization; yes, even finance, HR, and legal—prosper in the long run. Patnaik will explain the three principles of Widespread Empathy—make it easy, make it everyday, and make it experiential—and how we can adopt these principles to anticipate and act on the needs of our customers.
